As a business, our vision is to be a leading force in progressing the transition to a circular economy through the repair, refurbishment and remanufacturing of electronic equipment and machinery.
Since its establishment in 2013, WEEE Scotland has been driven by the principles of a circular economy, where materials never become waste and resources are used to their full potential.
In a circular economy, products and materials are kept in circulation through processes like scheduled maintenance, reuse, refurbishment, remanufacture and recycling. The circular economy tackles climate change and other global challenges, like biodiversity loss, waste, and pollution, by decoupling economic activity from the consumption of finite resources.
This is extremely relevant in the manufacture and consumption of electronics. Due to demand and availability of the latest technology, Electronic and electrical equipment is often discarded before the end of its useful life. Further, the manufacturing of electrical equipment relies on finite and depleting natural resources.
Experienced & Knowledgeable
Managing, monitoring and reducing the environmental impact of their business operations is becoming an essential requirement for our customers, as we all endeavour to tackle our carbon emissions and meet national Net Zero targets. At WEEE Scotland, we believe in managing our customers resources for a better tomorrow. This means using circular economy principles to extend the life of electrical assets and prioritising repair and reuse before recycling.
We are experienced in consulting on complex and challenging projects and have recently completed work on the decommissioning of solar panel fields in the North of Scotland, and the removal and recycling of lighting fixtures in Glasgow’s Clyde Tunnel.
