UKRI Sustainable Manufacturing Project
This month, WEEE Scotland’s Managing Director, Gerry Docherty, delivered a Keynote Speech at an event organised by the Advanced Research Centre at the University of Glasgow, looking at the UKRI Sustainable Manufacturing Project.
The project is focused on researching critical metal recovery from electronics waste by using targeted ultrasound to accelerate the recovery of key materials (such as gold) and the event heard from a range of stake holders and experts on the subject.
Gerry discussed the opportunities for electronics in the circular economy, highlighting the current challenges and the environment and economic impact of WEEE (waste electronic and electrical equipment).
We are looking forward to welcoming Dr Andrew Feeny and colleagues to the site in December to extend the opportunities for knowledge sharing.
